Pawtucket is the home of several historic sites including Slater Mill, a tribute to Samuel Slater that is recognized internationally as the Birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution. Many historic mills populate the city, providing an abundance of residential lofts and housing, office space, and artist lofts and studios.

The arts have played an important role in the city's renaissance, with many galleries, artist studios, music venues of all shapes and sizes, theatre groups, music series and annual festivals led by the Pawtucket Arts Festival held in September. The city's waterfront plays host to a number of recreational events including the annual RI Dragon Boat and Taiwan Day Festival and Explorer Riverboat Tours. A number of famous and internationally recognized artists have workspace in Pawtucket and come from here. Pawtucket is the home of the RI Music Hall of Fame.

Slater Park is one of the state's premier parks, housing many recreational facilities, attractions, and events. The park features tennis and basketball courts, a bike path, fishing, picnic sites, paddle boats, an animal shelter and a dog park, historic Daggett House plus the Charles I. D. Looff Carousel, the oldest stander carousel in the world. Across from the carousel, enjoy the creative exhibits at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society.

Pawtucket features a number of unique dining experiences and events, including Restaurant Week. A growing number of craft beer breweries are locating here offering tastings, tours, event space and special events.
